Gas work done by someone licensed to touch it

Gas line work is one of the few plumbing jobs where the licensing is the point. Adding a run for a new range, moving a water heater's feed, or chasing a leak on an old black-iron line, all of it needs a pro whose card says they do gas.
First, the safety part
Smell gas? Don't use this form. Leave the building, leave the door open on the way out, and call Puget Sound Energy at 888-225-5773 or 911 from outside. Then request a plumber for the repair once the utility has made it safe.
What the job usually is
- New appliance run: stub out for a range, dryer, fireplace insert, or generator, priced by distance from the existing line and what's in the way
- Leak repair: pin down the joint or section, repair or replace it, pressure-test before relighting
- Sizing upgrades: a tankless water heater or a furnace conversion can outgrow the existing line's capacity
What should a quote include?
Pipe material (black iron vs CSST flex), fittings, shutoff valves, the pressure test, and the permit, every city in the county runs its own permit desk, and gas work almost always requires one plus inspection. The pro who calls will know what your city's desk asks for.
