Water where it shouldn't be

An emergency plumbing call is about speed and containment: get the water stopped, get someone out, figure out the fix after the damage stops spreading.
What to do before the callback
- Burst pipe or active leak: shut off the main water valve, usually in the garage, a basement wall box, or at the street meter
- Sewage backing up: stop running all water in the house
- Water heater leaking: shut off the cold supply line on top of the tank
- Gas smell: this is not a plumbing emergency first, leave the building, call Puget Sound Energy at 888-225-5773 or 911 from outside
What counts as urgent?
Water actively damaging the house, sewage in a fixture, or a gas line involved. A dripping faucet, a running toilet, or a slow drain can wait for a normal appointment, say so in the message and the pro will set one instead of quoting emergency rates.
What does an emergency call cost?
After-hours and weekend work prices higher than a weekday slot, that's true everywhere, and the pro who calls will say what the dispatch costs before they roll. Describe what's happening plainly; "water coming through the ceiling" gets treated differently than "sink is dripping."
